It had been 2-3 years since this stunning home had its full cedar exterior oiled, making it the perfect time to give it the care it deserved. The project started with a comprehensive washdown to remove any mold, moss, dirt, and stains, ensuring nothing would interfere with the oil’s ability to penetrate the wood. Given that oiling can be a messy process due to the product's consistency, we took extra precautions to protect every part of the property, including the deck, windows, driveway, and foundations. We also carefully timed the work to shield us from wind and the elements. Finally, we applied Drydens WoodOil, a high quality penetrating oil that soaks deep into the timber over time creating an in-built, weatherproof coat that preserved the cedars natural beauty as the true feature.

Since the project was completed during the colder months, we used professional winter-grade additives to ensure the paint cured properly despite the dropping temperatures overnight, allowing us to work efficiently and maintain proper drying times between coats. This home had been renovated shortly after the quake, with the roof replaced, but the guttering, fascia, and downpipes had never been properly tied in. After a thorough clean, we prepped and primed the original guttering system with Galvo-One, a high-performance solventborne primer to ensure excellent adhesion and longevity. We then applied two coats of Lumbersider, a durable, self-priming exterior paint, carefully colour-matched to the roof. Using an airless sprayer, we achieved a flawless finish that made it look as though the entire guttering system had been created at the Colorsteel factory itself. The result was a seamless, professional finish that made the whole exterior appear cohesive, as though all elements were completed simultaneously.
